The Story of Blue Veil Events
Out of a desire to honor holy Catholic marriages in all aspects of wedding planning, I created Blue Veil Events LLC.

Couples have more and more tools and resources available to them in terms of event planning nowadays. Nevertheless, I still see couples limiting themselves from boldly practicing their faith at their wedding receptions.
The beautiful and sacred hour-long ceremony seems like just a blip in the day compared to the 6-8 hours of festivities that follow. Due to logistical issues, couples tend to host their reception away from the church and many venues don’t have much in the way of Christian-centric décor! Additionally, many couples seem to shy away from including elements in their receptions that they worry could be “too Catholic” around non-Catholic friends and family.
Let’s change the narrative of Catholic event planning. There are simply far too many customs and traditions embedded in our faith for us to ignore when it comes to food, décor, music and other elements! Let us use our sacramental celebrations to keep our eyes lovingly pointed towards Christ.
After all, the wedding reception represents the very first instance in which a new husband and wife jointly host a gathering for their loved ones. And it takes up more than two thirds of the whole day. Why not fill it with as much heavenly goodness as possible? You only get one day!

This is the kind of reception I desire!

Marielena & David
When my husband and I began wedding planning, we had several important priorities. We wanted our reception to take place in a historic venue that offered luscious lawns perfect for sunset photos and we focused on finding creative catering. We had fun picking the elements of our reception—such as a food truck that served a scrumptious brunch, a bartender who made our customized His + Her cocktails, a custom tea blend for favors that mixed elements from our two cultures, and our live Irish band.

Unfortunately, you don’t know what you don’t know, and we didn’t know the many ways that we could have incorporated our magnificent faith into our wedding reception. For example, our wedding date (Jan 23) is regarded as a feast day of the Espousals of Mary and Joseph. We shared a wedding anniversary with the holiest couple that ever lived—and we made no mention of this at our reception! We didn’t have holy cards as our wedding favors or even wrap a rosary around my bouquet.
For this reason, I have made it my mission to learn all the ways faithful Catholics can keep that hour-long ceremony as the main focus of their hearts and wedding receptions on the big day!
In sum, here are my core beliefs…
Boldly practice your faith
We are called to be bold witnesses of our faith. Therefore, it’s not just a “wedding reception,” it’s a sacramental celebration. Find ways to honor the commitment you are making to yourselves, to the Church, to the community! (Yes, even when event planning!) Whether you choose to support Christian-owned vendors for your services or hand out prayer cards made by a Catholic maker, don’t be afraid to be bold! ❤️

Always gaze upon Heaven
I once read a Catholic blogger’s post where she said she decorated their dining table with elements that kept her family’s gaze upon Heaven. Whether you decorate your reception with sprays of baby’s breath to remember the “little way” of St. Thérèse (the “little flower”) or you surprise your spouse with a foot-washing ceremony to remember to be Christlike in your marriage, do everything with the intention of gazing upon Heaven.
Our faith is FUN
You remember how in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Gus would say: “Give me any word, and I show you how the root is Greek“? Well, pick a saint (or feast day), any saint, and I will show you at least ten ways you can incorporate age-old traditions and customs into your event that evoke the mysteries of Heaven! You don’t even have to tell your guests that you have surrounded them in subtle, holy elements. You can have have your cool “Memento Mori” (“Remember your death”) Catholic gothic wedding cake and eat it too! 😉
